So much has happened in such a short space of time, but is the answers to a lot of prayers from the summer of 99.  When

Elisabeta and her mother first came to my friends and I, in their own village (Soard), close to the town of Sighisoara. My friends

and I were doing a daily food outreach followed by the word of God and an invitation to receive Jesus in their hearts for the

forgiveness of their sins and also to receive prayer for healing.  Amongst the many general prayers for headaches and cold

came Elvira with her blind child Elisabeta.  I believe that God can heal divinely and directly but this was a nervous moment.

After prayer Pastor Norman Patterson said he thought the child was conscience of the bright sunshine and with an operation

could possibly see again.  Several more outreaches to the village caused my conscience to be troubled by the persistence of

this mother to bring her child for prayer.  Pastor Norman and his wife Linda e-mailed me and asked if I had taken the child to the

hospital and I responded embarrassed "no," but with their encouragement we went to the city Targue Mures where she was

checked and we were told that she could have a great chance to see if we bought a lens and gave it to them to operate.  So with

a collected $60 we bought the lens and then the operation was completed.  Our hopes were high, but two weeks after the bandages

were removed, Elisabeta could still not see.  We went back to the hospital and the doctor said the child was handicap and deformed

from birth and that is why she could not see. I asked if the operation could be done abroad so the child could see.  Immediately the

doctor lashed out and was furious claiming she was just as good as any western doctor and that the child could see no matter where

she got operated on.  I wasn't accusing her of being a bad doctor, I was just concerned for the child and I know there is sometimes

better equipment in other areas.  She immediately kicked us out of that hospital.

In March of 2000 Dr. James Ogdon of Goldendale, Washington came to Romania to examine people's eyes. I immediately brought

Elisabeta and her mother and Ogden gave us all a new hope that there was a chance the girl could see after an operation in the United

States. He then started to make inquiries and actually found Dr. Shenk of the Pacific Cataract and Laser Institute of Washington state

who was willing to perform the operation for free. This then caused many others to open their heart to giving for this cause including:

Northwest Airlines with provided tickets, with the help of Judy Sencenbaugh, money from a family from the north of England for food while

they stayhere and for the family still living in Romania, the hospital waived the entrance fees, Auburn Church of the Nazarene provided

extra funding for miscellaneous things, the Clemmer family provided hospitality through the entire stay in America, and many other simply

prayed for out of support and care for Elisabeta and her mother.  These churches included Carmel Christian Church in Hadfield, England,

Church of the Nazarene in Belfast, Ireland, Elim Pentecostal Church in Glossop, England, Church of the Nazarene in Romania, The

Mana Church in Sighisoara, and many others including my friends Peter and Sue Hopwood, Sam and Jackie Fentem living in Glossop,

England, and Jill Askcough and her church from Yorkshire, England, and many others.

Mom and Elisabeta arrive at the airport, in America for the first time. Northwest Airlines is donating the airfare both ways.

Elisabeta's left eye is recovering a little more each day, praise the Lord, but our prayers now are going towards a second operation on

her right eye, which will be checked Wednesday, Jan. 3.  Please pray all goes well and for continual blessing from all involved in bringing

this miracle to us.  May the Lord Jesus be glorified through all this as he works through His church, which has no boundaries.

*Dr. Paul Shenk checks Elisabeta yesterday after the 15-minute operation Thursday that removed a cataract from her left eye.  Shenk said, "It looks good. Everything looks good."

*Elisabeta and her mom share a tender moment after Dr. Shenk declared the operation a success.

In Ephesians it says that we are to have a spirit of Unity through the bond of peace.
Amen,
David
