Dear Friends,
Thank you for all your prayers for Elisabeta and her mother.  Her left eye is recovering well but we still wait for a decision from the doctor as to whether they will operate on the right eye.  Her next checkup is on Tuesday the 9th.  The mother's eyesight will also be checked on this day also on Thursday, the 11th, the mother's ears will be checked.  Keep these dates in prayer please.  Also the mother is quite homesick, pray she copes with this.

God Bless,
David McGuire

God Bless everyone of you that has been praying for Elisabeta.  The way things are at the moment is that we were at the doctors yesterday and they said her left eye is doing good.  Today Dr. Shenk told us that we should come and see him on Monday, Jan. 15th at 8:30 AM, for a checkup in Vancouver, then to go to Portland at 10:00 AM to see another specialist where the final decision is made about operating on the right eye.  Pray for wisdom for the doctors and patience for all concerned and perseverance to follow through to the end of this blessing.  Pray also all goes through well for the location for a second operation.  Tomorrow Elvira, the mother, will see a Dr. Kozie who will examine her ears which might result in some small surgery.  The mother needs this but is a little scared.

Hello everyone, thank you for all your prayers.  Today Elvira the mother went to have a hearing test and after a lot of tests she was diagnosed as having 80 percent hearing on her right ear and her left ear was diagnosed as being irreparable and she is permanently deaf in this ear.  Both ears have holes that have appeared through infections.  They said they could operate on her right ear but they will not because if the operation is not successful then she will be deaf all her life and they only operate on people who have at least partial hearing in both ears.  Their solution was to give some drops for the right ear and they will soon provide a suitable hearing aid.  Elvira was happy to have at least this help.  Keep in mind Monday AM when Elisabeta will be checked again.
God Bless and feel free to reply and ask questions or send words of encouragement which can be passed on to the mother and child.

David

News came today from Doctor Shenk that a second surgery on the right eye will take place. All specialists agree to go ahead.  Arrangements are being made with a hospital and surgery will be scheduled for January 30th if possible.  Doctor Dryer of Portland will do the surgery with Doctor Shenk assisting.  Please be in prayer for the arrangements and the Doctors involved.

Hello friends,
Praise the lord for all his mercies and goodness. Today I got a call from St Vincent's hospital in Portland Oregan and they confirmed that the operation to the right eye of Elisabeta's will be on Tuesday Jan. 30th and will be done by Dr Richard Dryer and Dr Shenk.  I've been told that this is a unique operation in the fact that it will be removing a old lens that was put in in Romania two years ago and then remove all the mess around it and then put a new lens in its place one that is the correct size. With faith in Jesus and his healing grace we are believing that this will be even better than the left eye operation, because both myself and the mother on the same night had dreams that the eye would be better in vision than the other. God speaks out of the mouths of two or three witnesses and after all the miracles of the recent times with Elisabeta this is just a continuation of his mercy.   Myself, Elvira, Elisabeta and Penny from the host family with interpreter Rodica Moldovan and possibly Dr Ogdan who was used by god to make the connection possible with Dr Shenk in the first place might also be here for the operation. please keep all this in prayer that all goes smoothly and is a success to the glory of Jesus Christ.   Also Elvira will go on Friday of this week for a hearing aid for her right ear that was donated at Dr Kozie's office.  Praise the lord.  Choose this day whom you will serve and if you choose the lord Jesus Christ then see how he dose a miracle through you for his glory. In proverbs it says he who refreshes will be refreshed.   God bless you and may God fill you with His holy spirit and blessings for this day.

Hello prayer partners. There has been a change in the plans of things. Dr Shenk has come back from a conference and was expected to do the surgery on Tuesday as you all knew, but he made a mistake with his planning and has 18 patients instead at his office to see and so everything will be changed to a different time for this operation. Please pray for coordination between the doctors and hospitals to give a new date soon and for patients for the mother in this long separation from her family back in Romania.  Take care everyone and thanks again for your prayers. Hello prayer partners in Christ.  Elisabeta is doing good and will have her next operation on Tuesday, Feb. 13th.  Keep in prayer please also that God may provide a good house for Elvira and her family as they go back to Romania.  Their old house is not theirs and it is made of mud and trees for trusses, and the roof is falling down.  So a new strong warm house would be a good start to Elisabeta's new life with her new eye sight. The television was interviewing Elisabeta and all of us today and it will be shown around all the states in a hour long story saying about all God's miracles. I said to them that I wanted Jesus to be mentioned and as Christians we give God the glory for all this and so we want him to be mentioned in the story as he orchestrated everything.  Pray that Jesus is glorified. Also Elvira's family in Romania is very sick and they need help and prayer, and Elvira might well have to go back before the full recovery time is completed. So keep her in prayer. Thank you and God Bless.
From David, Elvira, and Elisabeta.

SECOND SURGERY IS A SUCCESS

Tuesday, February 13, Elisabeta had surgery on her right eye in Portland, Oregon.  Doctors found that the retina is still open, which means that light is being transmitted through the eye.  Doctors also found a previously unseen cataract which they able to successfully remove. The doctors discovered that an adult lens had been transplanted into Elisabeta's eye during the surgery in Romania.  They decided not to remove the lens due to concerns about scare tissue.  The doctors do believe that Elisabeta will have sight in her right eye, although at this time they don't know how much vision she will have. Elvira is good spirits even though, as you know, she is homesick.  If healing progresses on course Elvira and Elisabeta could be returning home on March 8. Please pray for Elisabeta's follow-up exams on Wednesday and Thursday (February 14 & 15).

SECOND SURGERY IS A SUCCESS

Praise the Lord for all his greatness and mercy. Yesterday Elisabeta had her operation and it was a hard operation but the doctors were happy about how things went and today they examined her and they said the eye looked great. We will go for many check ups from now on to these doctors, but please keep in prayer Elisabeta as she has not opened her eye yet by herself as it is still naturally sore.  We go again tomorrow to see Dr. Shenk.  God Bless you all for your prayers and support. Glory to God amen.

Wednesday, February 28th, Elisabeta had an appointment with Dr. Dryer from Portland. He said that things are looking great and almost all of the red and soreness is gone from her eyes. He also said that there is a clear path through to the retina for light to get to it.  We are totally happy about this!  Elisabeta is now only having to take her medicine 4 times a day instead of every half hour. When Elisabeta goes back to Romania, she will be supplied with enough medication to last a month and a half. Praise the Lord for that! In the afternoon of that same day, Dr. Shenk looked at Elisabeta as well had he was equally impressed and satisfied with the progress. Elisabeta's next appointment will be next Tuesday in Chehalis.

Also, tomorrow will be a great day for Elvira as she will be getting a hearing aid to improve her hearing.  If God is willing, we may be going back on March 8th, but we are not totally sure on this date. God Bless

Praise the Lord for all his goodness and grace. Thank you all for your prayers and support for Elisabeta and all of us here in America involved with this wonderful miracle.  With just one week to go to the time of going back to Romania, everything has been great for Elisabeta in her recovery period. The eye is healing up great and is gaining more and more sight each day that the redness has gone. Also today, Elisabeta's mother Elvira has had a new hearing aid and can hear 100 percent better. Praise God! A final check up on Tuesday will see any final observations and instructions, and then there will be a return flight on Thursday, arriving back on Friday in Bucuresti.  God bless and I'll give another update before leaving next week. Hello prayer partners in this amazing miracle for Elisabeta. Tomorrow we leave to go back to Romania almost three months since we left and I can report that Elisabeta can now see! Praise God in both eyes even though there is a lot of recuperating to still be done for her, where on Dec. 16th she could only take three steps then fall down, she can now walk and pick things up, climb on tables, climb under them, go round corners and walk anywhere independently, and not walk into things because she can see. Dr. Shenk said two days ago that the drops still need to be given for a few months yet but things will get even better for her. Pray that her mother keeps this up with the medicine drops and that she keeps her glasses on her all the time. Enough money has been given for a new house for Elisabeta! Praise God and this will be found on going back to Romania.  Thank you again for all your prayers and I will update again how things go when were back in Romania.  Glory to God for all his mercy in Jesus name from Dave mc - amen

Praise god for his guiding hand in all things! After a long trip home to Romania we got back at 11pm in Elisabeta's village all very exhausted but happy.  Not too many people were about so late which was a good thing so here baggage could be put in quietly.  Elisabeta's eyes were a little red after the pressure of flying, so keep her in prayer that Elvira keeps up the drops on a regular basis and Elisabeta keeps her glasses on. I will go and start seeing about her new house as soon as my car works again. Pray that it will work please. God bless you all, for we were all needed to bring about these miracles as well as God's grace and his guiding holy spirit.  Glory to Jesus and may the name of Jesus be glorified - thank you!

David, Elisabeta and Elvira
