Dear Church Family, Well, the heat wave has snapped. We will probably have temperatures that only reach into the high 90s today, Thursday. If you haven't heard we had a high temperature of at least 111 degrees on Tuesday. At this morning's session at the sports complex was actually bareable, only about 32 C--You can figure the conversion for yourself. The young guys are showing a lot of energy, but there were naps all-around on Wednesday afternoon, and a full night's sleep also. Even I got into the act on Wednesday, playing three-on-three basketball games with local teens and young adults. You will be glad to know that in all of our games we were victorious. The real measure of what we are doing can be found in the renewing of frienships that we made last year. We have seen a few of the "old" players from last year, and they remembered us just as we remembered them. The opportunity of four weeks outreach is going to be a blessing for the church. On Sunday, we will be travelling with missionary Rob Kazee to the service the small community of Gaeseni. It will be quite an experience to visit the church that was only excavated footings the last time we were there in 1995. It will be the site for the VBS being run by our #2 and #3 teams. In case you are concerned, we are eating well. Today, Thursday, we had a lunch of pork chops, potatoes, mixed carrots and peas, bread and watermelon. We waddled away from the table. The place is hopping, with a Portuguese group coming in last night on their way to Sighisoara, the town where Brian Clemmer will be doing his studies this fall. The boys are going out exploring the city this afternoon, and the old guy-Brad-will probably do some reading and work on my message for the 16th here at the church. If you want to communicate with us, feel free to use my address, bradmirk@hotmail.com to send greetings to any team member. We will try to respond ASAP. Thanks for your prayers-Ours are also with you. In Christ, |
