To Our Wonderful Home Team, The past few days have been a whirlwind! It is hard to believe that a week has already flown by. We continue to have clinic every day. We are planning a couple of days off clinic for Sunday and Monday, but we will see what God directs us to do. Thursday held another medical clinic adventure out in the gypsy village of Lower Vanitor. We gave out 104 numbers for the line, but there are always Moms with children who come through without a number. We are estimating we saw about 110 people altogether, but still probably more. Doc Steve is marvelous with the people showing God's grace and mercy as well as giving the gift of dignity. Our wonderful translators, Rosse (Rosey), Levy, and Marios are without a doubt a most precious gift from God. Rosse speaks 3 languages, Levy speaks at least three, maybe four, and Marious speaks four. Our non-medical team members are also doing a wonderful job of assisting with crowd control, playing with the children, and monitoring the door(s) so no one gets in without a line number. And then there is Linda Patterson...we definitely couldn't survive without her mothering and love! Linda took a bad fall in Ireland before returning to Romania. She did not break any bones, but has a large goose-egg bruise on her left leg. We are doing our best to serve her so she can keep her leg elevated both at Project House and when we are in the villages. Her leg is greatly improving! Praise the Lord!! Again our team split up into three smaller teams today. After helping the medical team get set up, the Young Ones (Abe, Amy & Shane with Doug, Andrew & David) headed into Tabitha House at Laslea to finish building cement block steps off of the new dining room and building a brick wall for the new Teen Center behind Tabitha House. When they finished their work for the day, they took time to play "football" (soccer) with the village children. They all enjoyed this adventure more than anything so far. Tomorrow, Friday, they will come to the medial clinic to play with the children while their parents wait in line to see the doctor. The third team, a team of women, went into Sigi to the Family Center to give some of the girls sewing and drawing lessons. The girls were between the ages of 15 & 20. They learned to thread a machine and some basic stitches. Before we leave, they will each make a book bag. Here it will be used to go the market and take their groceries home. At the end of the class there was time for Sandy to give the girls some pencil sketching lessons.
Again we are blessed as the people
express deep gratitude with their words, the kissing of our cheeks and
our hands. It is indeed overwhelming but deeply gratifying. We know
that God is looking down and smiling upon us as we love Him and reach
out to His Children here in Romania. |
